Title: Banned Users
Post by: The_Gu3st on July 26, 2005, 12:31:32 AM
Matlu, how did those people get banned? Did they cheat for pts or something?
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: matlu on July 26, 2005, 12:42:05 AM
Nobody is banned, I just deleted their accounts - because the violated non-written rules :)
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: The_Gu3st on July 26, 2005, 01:21:42 AM
Uh... dont you think those "non-written" rules should maybe be written so we know if we are violating them or not?
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: matlu on July 26, 2005, 10:14:56 AM
The rules are quite obvious, maybe I'll write them down once but right know I don't want to bother with it. They are really obvious, I think that rules from ANY other multiplayer game would apply.

Which "Un-written rules" were broken?
BTW, I'm glad to see 3s in your name, Gu3st.

Haha lol thanx. I didnt exactly want them but it wouldnt allow me to include the word "guest" without using the 3, so oh well.

Uh, so's your face! (3
That 3 and word order is the only thing that seperates me from a huge, walking man-eating chest made of sapient pearwood.  Even though The Luggage is cool and all, I'd like us to be discernible.  (Plus, I thought this site was dead when I came, because the link I got to it was pretty old, and I was drinking diet coke.)

Get back on topic.

Matlu,
Please explain to me how someone can cheat. I have 2 theorys which are possible but comepletely undetectable. I need to know these unwritten rules you speak of. And if you'd like, i can make guidelines for this game but I need to know what exactly is happening. I think everyone is curious and they dont want to make the same mistake so if you cleared it up that would be helpful.
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: The_Gu3st on July 30, 2005, 08:22:31 AM
Also, you can't expect us to abide by rules no matter how obvious they are, they need to be posted somewhere. Also, if you have time someday matlu, i'd like to discuss my two theorys, not on here though, i wouldnt want anyone getting ideas becuase im pretty sure one theory is undetectable.
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: The_Gu3st on July 30, 2005, 11:46:17 PM
I see I was ignored, maybe because you feel as if the information is confidential, matlu? Atleast give me a reason you wont tell me if you're not going to.
Title: Re: Banned Users

Static_man was banned for helping a friend get points (I played a game wit him) The rest were prolly the same or similar.
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: The_Gu3st on July 31, 2005, 04:23:02 AM
That was one of my theories, but my other theory is almost completely undetectable, or so I think.
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: Adam on July 31, 2005, 04:43:46 AM
that was why they were all banned... for trading points or just giving points.... nothing is undetectable, as matlu keeps a log of what happens on there... personally i dont feel comfortable with other people discussing why i was banned... it just feels as though everyone is ridiculing me... a mistake is a mistake... if you want to know ask me... if i dont tell you then i dont want everyone to know... its relatively simple...
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: The_Gu3st on July 31, 2005, 05:37:15 AM
I wasnt trying, or I doubt anyone else was, to ridicule you in any way. I just wanted to know what Those people's mistakes were so we all could know not to commit them ourselves.
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: Adam on July 31, 2005, 09:54:06 AM
thats why you ask for a list of rules, rather than asking for the latest gossip... i personally hate gossip...
Title: Re: Banned Users

QuoteI just wanted to know what Those people's mistakes were so we all could know not to commit them ourselves.

I BELIEVE that EVERYONE is able to judge what is FAIR and what is NOT. I also believe that people who were deleted KNOW why it happened, and they REALIZE that their behaviour was unfair.
If you have doubts whether some particular thing is allowed or not feel free to ask here.

Not trying to ridicule you in any way, sorry if it comes across that way.  My apologies.  However, it's not as clear as Matlu here is trying to make out...  My friend, for instance, joined recently and has really low points.  Had I not known that this is a particularily touchy matter among CW players, I might have lost a few games with him to bring him up a bit.  I for one don't care about points, as is evident by my rater small amount.  I think the solution to problems of this ort owuld be to add some rules to the rules page, instead of just instructions.  Simple.

I second that. And matlu, I would still like to discuss with you about one of my theories that I believe is undetectable. PM me please when you have a chance.

Feel free to PM me any message. There is no guarantee that I will answer though. I would prefer to not discuss about cheating very much, because cheaters would get smarter if they knew my ways to detect them.
Still you are welcome to PM (or post here) any comment on this topic.

I think a small amount of points is more indicative of how bad someone is, not how little they care about points. Unless they knowingly make bad strategical decisions to be stylish and/or silly, etc. This may be offensive, but, no offense. ;)

It means I don't sacrifice my Cyber Battle-style honor by holoing when up close, or double holoing, or other such moves that rob the game of fun.

strategy is strategy....
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: TheMcCool on August 03, 2005, 01:53:33 AM
Eh, I rarely if ever rush and double holo, but I do use holos occasionally. I used to think like you for about half the time I played back in the old Gamesdomain days, but I realized it was part of the game- nothing dishonorable about it whatsoever. That's why there are counter-strategies to use against holos. Holodetecting, deploying weak monsters as blockers, etc.

Instead of thinking something is cheap and dishonorable, accept it as part of the game and develop defenses against it, and implement it into your own strategies. Just a bit of advice... this pretty much applies to any game and will make you a better player.

and back to this topic... shouldnt smallguy and reg be added to the hall of shame?(i.e the list of players who have been deleted for cheating[remember: winners dont use drugs])
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: The_Gu3st on August 03, 2005, 05:18:52 AM
Ive already discussed with matlu about smallguy, i have a feeling he was deleted already since his score was at 100 when I saw him a while back.
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: TheMcCool on August 03, 2005, 05:19:24 AM
Just want to add: there is one thing I truly consider unfair and dishonorable... fagmos who like to team unfairly, with one person on the team having no intention of winning. Whether it be a friend playing as a guest, or one person playing from two different ips via use of proxies, or whatever. Most of the time I don't care, but depending on the situation it can sometimes be very lame.

I can easily second that. Cheaters are overtaking duelboard and we need mods in my opinion.

smallguy and reg were both deleted that was already said.. but they werent added to the list of deleted people... its lonely up there...

I know the strategies, and the ways to counter them.  I know that it's not "dishonorable."   It just makes the game less fun.  Which is my sole reason for not doing it.

Well I guess I can't judge your playstyle without having played you, so no point discussing it further.

edit: Also, I'm having connection troubles again so bleh... I won't be on again for a while.
Title: Re: Banned Users

wow... is it just me or did reg50 get a bunch of points back after he was deleted... in no time... and is now on the board again... in numerous games... undefeated..... and is that odd?
Title: Re: Banned Users
Post by: TheMcCool on August 03, 2005, 09:00:32 AM
It is odd, as I've beaten him before and he didn't impress me much. But then again no one does, as I mentally block out any actual losses I've had that weren't due to extremely bad luck, a disconnection, or unfair teaming. I'm the best!

So you're saying holos make the game less fun?

Imagine if holos didn't exist. Any element of strategy of skill in DuelBoard would be removed, and it would just be a complete battle of luck. Holograms add a dimension of skill to the game, even if it is a very small dimension.

Yes, it isn't fun if you get killed in Turn 3 on a 4 player game due to holos, but you have to live with it, and learn from your mistakes.

When I threw a tantrum over this game, it wasn't because of holos, it was because of me being extremely unlucky.

To summarize, holos make the game much more exciting.

so yeah........ as i remember the only game ive really played with reg50 he said i had a mech warrior just because i knew a guy failed beaming one down at 40%... because i can figure out tech 3 adds 30% to tech monsters and mech warrior is 10% which makes it 40% at the time... i had to of had a mech warrior.... the fact that i did means nothing... i didnt need to look at it to tell it was a 40% beam down.... he cant figure that out yet hes such a great player....

I didn't say that holos make the game less fun.  I said that some uses of holos, especially double or triple holos, take the fun out of the game.

Hey how ya doin guys.... Yea i was Deleted for "cheating" which i dont think i did but Matlu I think maybe trading wins should be allowed BUT you need to put A limit on how many times you can play a person until the game becomes non rated just like gamesdomain.

Trading wins is stupid, it makes the top scores-board meaningless. There's not even a good reason to do it as you dont need to buy upgrades or anything.
