Title: Team Tourny Set 2/26
Post by: SiR gUt on February 19, 2006, 04:22:53 AM
Here are the rules for those who don't go to the website, http://www.cyberbattlestournament.com/rules.html

2 on 2 Team Tournament Rules

1) Teams will consist of two (2) people. If there is someone who does not show up, the Team must choose from the Substitutes available. If there are no more subs left, the opposing team must remove as much players from their team to make the match even.

2) Team with most combined points will get the 1,3 player positions. That team chooses who on their team will be 1st player and 3rd player. The next game that team gets the 2,4 player positions. The teams will keep alternating until the match ends.

3) The match will be played the best out of 7, that means first team to win 4 games wins. After this is achieved the team resulting with the loss is then eliminated from the tournament.

4) Games are to be unrated as there might be no single winner.

5) You are able to kill Commanders With range attacks, alien goo, fire, and gun turrets. Unlike the old Cyber Wars the new Cyber Battles will not freeze.

6) At the end of a match, the teams must report the result of the match and how many games were played to the Tournament Director (a.k.a. Scorekeeper - The Guest)

OK as you all know the tournament is on the 26th, and I think The Guest gave you  all a long enough notice to think about your teams. Sign ups will be opened by tuesday, so for now, if you have your team please have you or your teammate post your team.

Hope to see you all at the tourny and may the best team win.

3) Team with most combined points starts game.

Isn't that a tad contradictory? :-\

A round robin is where every team plays every other team at least 1 time, and the team with the most wins at the end is the winner of the tournament.

A round robin can also have rounds, but normally it does not.

Deadline for sign-ups will be tomorrow at 12 Noon EASTERN TIME!

The tournament will begin at 2PM Eastern (See Other Time Zones below) and participants are expected to show up about 10 to 15 minutes early. I understand that some time zones are inconvenient and Tournament Staff apologizes for that. However, we also need to include out European population too, which makes up a great deal of our tournaments.

Times for the Tournament:
----------------------
2     PM   Eastern
----------------------
1     PM   Central
----------------------
12   PM   Mountain
----------------------
11   AM   Pacific
----------------------
7     PM   London, England
----------------------
8     PM   (See list of following countries)
Paris, France
Berlin, Germany
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Brussels, Belgium
Vienna, Austria
Madrid, Spain
Rome, Italy
Bern, Switzerland
Stockholm, Sweden
Oslo, Norway
----------------------

If you need additional times or your time zone is not listed, feel free to ask for one.

Hope to see you there and good luck!

Tournament Staff
Sir Gut, The Guest, Dodger

Gut was wrong, like usual. From what I've seen on numerous websites, there is a 5 hour difference between eastern and England (GMT) time zones. The tournament will be at 7 pm, NOT 9 pm.

It is 5 hours. I'm certain.

He thinks 9 because we usually have tournys at 4PM Eastern (9PM London).

Hold on, mountain time is only an hour before central (I'm certain about this I live in the U.S.).  So eastern is 2pm, central is 1pm, mountain would be noon, and pacific would be 11am.

Everything else looks fine.

ok, my quote is "You tried, and you failed, so the lesson is, never try."
homer jay simpson said that btw.
i googled funny quote and i think this one isnt that bad. as for the tourney, i had a lot of fun, even if it lasted a bit too long, but that was given by the nature of the 2 vs 2 games, i mean just our first 3 games took like 45 minutes.
gut, bakster has some good pictures of our games if u need that (u said somethin yesterday)
short description of our last 3 games with dodger and bakster :
1game: we start by going second and fourth, we both have good tech stuff so we raise the alignment (with some help from dodg and bak of course who both got hovertanks), I kill laser robot with my hoverships and am immeadiatly attacked by both of opopenents, cowardly flee with jetpack towards math, eventually we both beam down spider and mech and win!  ;D 1-0 for the team!  ;D

2nd game: we go first and third, we advance to kick their asses then lucky dodger uses his lucky mutate on his lucky crappy creature and gets a spider on second or third turn. we spend the next 15 turns trying to stop the advancing spider by blocking it with lots of crap and one invincible mining droid who survived three attacks (oh and we pulsed twice) dodger and bakster played it well and made sure the spider survived and meanwhile beamed lots of other real stuff leaving us in no win situation. on the screenshot (by bkaster) you can see lots of our dead crap and me doing a suicide attack with jetpack on their comanders with no succes 1-1

3rd game: tech alignment builds up pretty quickly, they charge us while we try to play defense, 2 spiders and 1 mech is beamed, we kill their spider then resurect it leaving us with one spider and one mech while they retreat. I advance my spider to finish them, bakster leaves the game (turns out he accidently pressed backspace :D) dodger fails to beam down his mech at 90 percent (tough luck) and so victory is ours! :)
2 - 1
great games

After this tournament, I declare that I won't participate in a tournament again!

Why, you ask? No, not because I lost, or because of bad luck. I was quite satisfied with the games we played, even though I made several mistakes (sorry Dodger :'( )

It's how the tournament was run. True, I did arrive half an hour late and I apologize for that, but quite frankly, it sucked.

I never saw anima, abc or cDigital (which could be due to me being late) even though it was a round robin. Apparently it started as an elimination tournament, then changed to a round robin after half the teams left due to them losing in the elimination tournament. (Why?)

The rules seemed to change every 2 seconds, Gut and Guest seemed to never communicate with each other (announcing different matches/rules), and worst of all, Guest kept joining our game when we were about to start, saying 'spam'.
Although this may have been funny in my normal mood, I was pissed off at the time, so I wasn't amused. >:( It was also extremely unprofessional.

And it lasted 4 hours. (3 and a half for me). What a complete waste of an evening. I could have been continuing with my schoolwork/playing other games.

And the only reason the other tournaments were short is because I was eliminated in the first round of both :'(

I appreciate you guys spending your time to organize/run these tournaments, but this one was just shit.

Thus ends my tournament career.

I never saw anima, abc or cDigital (which could be due to me being late) even though it was a round robin. Apparently it started as an elimination tournament, then changed to a round robin after half the teams left due to them losing in the elimination tournament. (Why?)

ABC showed. We lost first round.

As for Anima, cDigital, and ults, I'm sorry I didn't go to their houses an force them to play. Sue me.

Why did the rules change? Because everyone was bitching. We went with popular demand. Sue me again.

I had quit and informed Gut that I quit before the tournament was over.

That "spam" thing I did was merely to prove a point to someone whom I won't mention, but they got the picture.

You're right, that wasn't professional. Good thing this isn't my profession. Once again, sue me.

I forgot, Gut messaged me on MSN saying "waa waa bakster lost boo hoo" etc etc. after his team beat ours.

More unprofessionality ;)

no it's called beating you fair and square and kidding with you about it. I didn't even say it in a mean way. You kept saying you are gonna win, and I guarantee if you won, you would of done the same thing. Now either stop whining and complaining or just stop posting and please just grow up already.

:'(  waaaahhhhhhhh tournaments sucked waaaaahhhhhh  :'( <---- Bakster

P.S. if your just going to flame the tournaments, like guets said what was gonna happen, do not bother to sign up.

waaaaaahhhhhhh i can never win and when i lose i have to post it on duelboard waaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh <------- Bakster

:-\ What are you all bitching about?
If Guest wants to quit then thats his decision. I know there was a lot of hassle, but I think it's worth some bad tourny's, if there are good ones also.
And we had to switch the rules around because everyone left, after they had lost one, due to them not readng the rules in the first place. Not the Admin's fault.
Overall I think this Tournament could have gone better, but it was the competitors, not the Admin's fault. No-one bothered to see what they had to do, several people didn't turn up and everyone slated the Admin. You only have yourselves to blame for this one Cyber Battlers.

5) You are able to kill Commanders With range attacks, alien goo, fire, and gun turrets. Unlike the old Cyber Wars the new Cyber Battles will not freeze.

lol, no one knew that yet!

We will see. Not much point if there are not enough people willing to show.
