Tell everyone on Duelboard you best story of either an awesome, amazingly lucky/skillfully played game or a pitful, dreadfully unlucky, game where "even the 100's fail". Also, feel free to talk about anytime a person on your team has unfairly betrayed you, ranted at you try to start stuff, or just about anything without flaming anybody.
Conditions that apply:
1. You cannot flame anyone (i.e "The_Guest knew he would lose in the end so he purposely decided to finish me off and go for the easy kill, he's a loser and never plays fairly, no wonder he has all those points!)
2. No name calling
3. Just be nice, this isn't gossip.
I was recently teamed non stop by the_guest and Cdigital, still beat you though guys! :D The_guest was getting mightily annoyed...

I also kept getting teamed 3 on 1 by a group calling themselves TBC ;)...quite a while ago...weird story.....
lol i dunno if its my busines.. but ill say it anyways... some1 cant follow rules... and your story wasnt really a story.. more or less an opinionated statement.. but yea anyways...well there you go.. u almost had your story down, bout the TBC... what was that about? anyways...
i remember one time i was super lucky i forget who i was playing ... everything worked... every kill would count... but then when my turn would have to end... and then my commander was a tank... he was surronded.. by flyers n slime... but then i used fire to slow the progress of the slime and i took out some flyers with my tank... then the fire spread after that and took out the slime... next turn my opponent upgraded but then i used reseruct on a tenticle...and won... i know thats not the best story but i thought i might as well post since i started an entry..
how bout that time i killed abc with a jeep... when it was teams and it was me n him vs 2 others.. well the other 2 died and it was up to me n abc to fight for bragging rights... well it took one attack with my jeep.. lol good times

My story from last night.
It was cold and dark, and the one known as Bakster sat on his swivel chair, playing Cyber Battles. The small bulb in the small room flickered as a 5P game unfolded.
The alignment in this game quickly went up the mechanical way. This was good for Bakster, as he had both a spideroid and a battle mech. Using both of these mechanical monstrosities, Bakster destroyed the one called Dodger. Dodger didn't go down without a fight. Not only did he destroy a laser robot and a mining droid, he mutated the machine arachnid into....another mining droid.
Mortally wounded, Bakster fought bravely, and took advantage of the stupidity of a n00b opponent who walked right into Bakster's alien goo.
Lo and behold, this event is just the start of an epic adventure.......
...not really! ;D
The next game, the great warrior known as bakster fought Dodger and the stupid n00b in a 3 way terror fight. Dodger, being the evil sore loser that he is, unleashed a two-on-one assault with the n00b. Bakster fought, like the warrior he is, and managed to slay the n00b. But Bakster could not defeat the odds, and Dodger quickly finished Bakster off.
Luckily, I owned Dodger in the 4P game afterwards ;D without any help at all.
Well, i figured since I made this topic, I'm gonna tell my own story about the much heard of 6 player game (screen shots have been psoted under "The Best Game Ever").
The whole thing started in the lobby, in which some trash talking was going down (mainly about that one that we all know as Song_Flower). Anyways, Cdigital of course said something extremely nice about her (Sarcasm is being used for the morons out there) and a man known as militant overheard. Imagine the coincidence that militant was great friends with song, and he quickly rushed off to tell her, setting off a battle of words.
Soon enough, the battle was to be settled in a game, a 6 player game. The teams were quite odd as it wasnt much of a t vs b type of thing, but rather a split up effort from the people on Cdigitals side and the people on Song_Flowers side. To be exact, it was me, cdig, and anima vs dodger, militant and song.
I knew I didnt have a chance, i had absolutly nothing... so i used the good old teleport move with a force sheild on, unfortunatly song_flower had a hover tank since the alignment was already very high. I was undestructable, taking blows left and right from cyborgs, hover tanks, spitters, literally everything under 7 str. At last i managed to kill song flowers hovertank, assisting anima to finish her off on his turn. Then the tables shifted, militant was really no match for us. He was outdone with almost nothing left, and soon after died by an assist from me again, this time to the hands of cdigital.
Then came the problem, it was me, anima, cdigital all vs dodger. Dodger had gotten his force armor on, and was inside some sort of transport vehicle with a real mech and spider on his side. Our team had 2 real mechs and one spider. Luckily, dodger had planted a fire which was keeping him alive. Dodgers mech destroyed cdigitals and then all we had was a mech and a spider vs another mech and spider. Cdigitals spider beat dodgers spider which once again shifted the tables. Dodger knew he was doomed, while his mech was destroying our beacons left and right and unmercifully killing everything in its path. then dodger tried to mutate the spider of cdigitals into something useless, only to realize it was now a pred. The pred's attack failed on his force-armored commander, only to have the commander retreat into a fortress and have the pred eaten up by the fire next turn. Now it was a mech vs mech battle. After many long turns, the fort subsided and the mech of animas continually attacked it. 1 time, 2 times, 3 times, and yet no luck. And then, we didnt have a mech anymore. Dodgers mech slaughtered it and the tables were turned.
Now it was just 3 commanders vs a mech. We had nothing left, nothing to kill it, and i was doomed next turn.
I remember me saying this in a completely sarcastic tone :
"Dodger, you played well, just not well enough... im sorry to say this but it is over for you" And then i bravely stepped upto his mech and took a desperate attack.
Nobody realized what happened. There were a few moments of silence as the unthinkable took place. My commander of str 5 destroyed the mech, sucessfully making the game a 4-way commander fight. Dodger wasn't exactly happy with this and he decided to hunt me down if it is the last thing he does. He finaly reached me, on ly to have anima, another force-armored commander block his way. It was force vs force, while I ran for my life. We were all in awe when dodger killed anima's force armor, yet I was safe with only 3 turns til a draw. Of course, the game ended in a draw but just looking at the sight of the field showed a mass graveyard.
That was the best game... ever. Don't even bother trying to out do that, it's impossible.
Wow !! That was the most moving and thrilling story i have ever heard! It couldnt be told any better. An unbelievable baTTLe, that deserves the title of 'the best ever'.
BTW, i have a confession. The group referred to as 'TBC' can be explained, seeings that i am a member ;D 'TBC' stands for 'Thamesbridge college' a school that i (and a few others) once attended.
So, when you here a group announcing valiantly : "TBC, TBC, TBC", you know those boys from thamesbridge are on your ass. :D
I was recently teamed by reg50 and a guest how do i know i was teamed well,reg had flying slime and my commander was right next to guest and then i beamed down a HOLO mech to kill guest but reg had to move his slime so i could get rid of guest i asked him to do so but he just stood his ground! this obvious double team angered me and caused me to lose and shortly after i was killed the guest SURPRISELY quit game hmmmm could it a fix. :P
My story was told far better than Guest's. :P
Maybe it was better told, but it wasnt as good. :P
hey guest gut knows a great story about how i tricked a guest to kill him so i could b mech kill the guest nxt turn next turn snd ressurect a mech and have armour sword and jet pack and killed 3 outta the 6 ppl in the game
it was funny i was in a jeep and i went up to a guest made him kill me and guess what happened slash 1 gone 2nd killed a guest with a b mech after he got got 3 down then the 2 guests teamed me 2 mechs and a spider killed 1 mech and ressurcted 2 mechs now yay then i killed spider with commander they used 2 holo preds to kill my mechs which they detected each others i jetpacked another guest then he miracouluslu (srry if spelled wrong) pulled out a queen and killed me it wasone of my best battles ever and i had a pred in reserve to he only had 50% chance but it was fun all aound (except for gut who got angry cuz i didnt help him) ;D :D ;D :D
omfgwtf huh? That was beyond confusing.
ok 1st i had jetpack sword and armour in a jeep guest didnt know he attacked jeep with range from blaster t o get a huge surprise and in the end i had 2 b mechs and i killed half the ppl does that help ??

LMAO I read all the storys and ultsswords was very confusing but i under stood it. BUT thx sword for letting me die. I ALSO HAVE LIKE 20 DIFF STORYS TO TELL AOBUT GOOD OLD CYBER BATTLES TIMES. First i will start it off with a 6 player game i was in.
well it ALl started off well was a good 6 player game dont remember who was in it but zz. ZZ hhad me cornered and was abou tto kill me until I beamed a 10% mech and then next turn mutated something into a queen. ZZ's exact words were. "gut do you always depends on being lucky" later on zz had won because his stuff killed my queen and mech.
Another story which was recently was a 5 player game probably was the best 5 player game ever. I ALSO HAVE A SCREEN SHOT OF IT! the players were. Me, TheArbiter. Jaffar, Battlemech60. and iced marche. ANYWAY there was like 6 mechs and like 4 spiders and ti went back and forth. OF COURSE I DIED BECAUSE I WENT FOR BATTLEMECH BECAUSE THE GAME B4 HE BETRAYED ME. anyway he killed me during the 5 player too but i killed marche.
MECH was cornered being teamed on by jaffar and arbiter, having a mech and spider and eye come for him. While he was in his tank but bmech60 had 2 mechs and a spider. arbiter thought he was all big and powerful was going for him. JAFFAR on the other hand cud of killed his bmech60's tank and arbiter cuda killed bmech but jaffar ran away like a baby cuz he didnt wanna lose his spider. BUT THEN BATTLEMECH60 OUT OF NOWHERE DESTROYS ARBITERS BMECH. THEN JAFFAR WAS TOTALLY RUNNING AWAY BUT BMECH CHASED HIM DOWN. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN bmech60 resurected a mech!!!! BUT ANYWAY AFTER ALL THAT THE GAME WENT BACK AND FORTH AND EVERYONES CREATURE WAS DESTROYED AND I THINK BMECH WON BUT THATS THE END.... AND YES I SUCK AT TELLING STORYS SO DONT COMPLAIN :D

let me say one thing I HATE BEING TEAMED ON BY 2 NOOBS it pisses me off because then they think they all good and make a big deal of it. Most of the time i dotn really try against guest or newer players, I just go for the easy kill or i fool around with them. Sometimes I just let them learn the ropes but i hate giving credit to 2 noobs who double team then think they badass.
BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE being teamed on by 2 people who really know how to play this game. It's beacause i actually try and its so much more of a harder game and just makes you like the game a lot better. Newer players dont like that so really shoudlnt do it to them, kinda makes them want to quit. Vetereans dont give a shit we like it. After I kick their ass i feel great :-D BRING IT SONG

But ill tell you a story............it's a bit unrelated though.
The other day, Me and a friend were chilling by a lake, when suddenly, from nowhere, the infamous LONG JAWED SWAN (in latin: 'Maximus jawus swanus') started barking in my face (NO SHIT). Like any other sane person, i was afraid........you would have to be crazy not to be afraid!.
So i swiflty made haste and that was the end of that chapter.

But Good Job anyway!
First, Parsley, you are the man...well done.
Next, once I was playing a top vs bottom six player when Sir_Static decided to betray me, I will never forgive him and if I ever play with him again I will do everything in my power to make sure he loses two points. :)
And...yesterday I had the pleasure to meet a player who goes by the name, bobsuruncle. I convinced him that we should play a 5 or 6 player game instead of the 1v1 that he wanted...he agreed and we dicussed how economically sound it was because you only risked 2 pts to get a potential 8-10 pts.Â
Then I found out he was French, but did not hate Americans, awesome. So we get to talking as the 5 player game starts and he tells me that he has to go...so he makes a holo hovertank and kills the commander in 4th position, he was in 3rd. Then he says I'm going to help you to take the risk for 8 pts before I leave...what could I say, surely not no. Then he flies up to the commander in 2nd position with a holo eye, and kills him through the force armour he was wearing...this pleased me because that commander was a decent player, though I forget who...now its just me, bobsuruncle and zai...now zai and i have been playing all day today and he has always tasted defeat, usually due to unluckiness. I thank bob and then watch as zai destroys him, then i got ridiculously lucky again and killed zai with something fairly weak, YES!!! ;)
I felt bad and apologized to zai because had bob not helped me it may have turned out differently...but he knew that it was help that I did not ask for.
In conclusion...bobsuruncle is the man...and he can speak French.

I was playing Prince_Death, and doing rather badly... He had loads of commander upgrades, shield, jetpack and lightsabre. And I had nothing at all.
Just when I thought my luck could get no worse, Prince beamed a pred and sent it at me, when all i had was a lightsabre to defend myself.
The preds attack failed against my unarmoured commander, so Prince bravely flew his commander up to attack....Which also failed!!!
Well I wasn't gonna take any of that! So i sliced through his shield with my lightsabre securing myself two whole points! 8) A truely epic battle.
Anyone feel like working out the odds of that happening twice?? :P

I was playing YaYap and he beamed 3 spiders in a row and cleaned up the board really fast. First me then Coke Can. I thought it was note worthy!

ok i killed a dude with a probe in a 6 way it was my last monster he had a queen a pred and a mech but i went first and won
This one time I was playing Cyber Wars and I was like woah. Omg noes a battlemechs. I mind controlled it, and I loled and everyone loled. Then I was like, hey this is cool. The next turn I holoprojected another battlemech, and teh guy could only holodetect one. He holodetected the mech that I mind controlled but it was real. I was like lolol and I killed him. Then I was like killed by a fire. I was like wtf lol this game sucks. I exited into the lobby and ran around the Castle in circles. Goku was there and he was like "..."

lol...ok yesterday i was playing song flower..willie...and some other dude...and he got my tank with goo so i got all pissed off..then i beamed a pred...kiled off the goo and got in my tank, i was still pretty pissed so i tried to beam a spider the next turn...and it worked..i went down with my spider and attacked..the person below me and they got pwnd..then i pwnd the others one by one ;D

I just played a typical 4 player.. Stitchy agreed to be on my team.. After stitchy let both guys attack me I asked him to take his guy around turn 5 (was pretty obvious).. He shot next to the enemy eye with his laser missing it instead of hitting it saying "oops, i missed haha", because he was secretly teamed with the unknown guest who was supposed to be his opponent.
Turn 6 they killed the other guy when he stopped attacking me. Turn 7 stitchy calls a FFA and they worked together untill I was dead.
Stitchy11 is now on my hitlist..
Think your going to steal some points, cheat to get on the score board, ok sucker, I'll steal them back.. Watch your back sucker, you are my number one target. Ill take your fake points away.

I was in a 6 player and it was down to me and some guest and a player named Koco. Anyways, Koco is on my team and he lives through like 10 mech/tent attack, then he flies and kills the other guest. Then without using the turn limit rule he just turns around and kills me with his mutant.

Well I hope this topic makes it back to the main page, b/c i think ppl forgot that it is here.... any ways i was in a 4 person game the other day, and by turn 5 there was 6 hover tanks. Four of them were beamed, one was mutated, and one was mutated then died then ressurected. Im not sure who was in the game with me, but i tried to take a screen-shot but every time i try to, my IE crashes. Anyone know why, and maybe im just doing it wrong or something.

Blow by blow account....
okay....well In short, I got trapped in my own goo, Ults got eaten whilst trying to get to me (roflmaololololnoob!1!!!1), so titans stepped up. He flukily beamed a 20% Spider that got eaten straight away.
So he holo'ed a mech (to release the spider) and that got eaten as well. So he got out of his transport, freed the mech, freed the spider, and they both blew a path towards me....killed me.
With my goo gone, it wasn't hard for Titans to get to reg. Reg disintergrated and resurrected the spider, which was killed again by Titans mech.
The mech reached Reg on turn 35, so we all though it was over....but it attacked Reg's transport....then shot Reg's armoured commander....killing him! :) and stealing our points :-\

today i just finished playing robo i had a lazer bot a real queen and a holoed queen along with a mining droid
i use queen 1 to destroy his beacon then shoot him hes still alive i lazer bot attack him then shoot him still there i attack and shoot with 2nd queen hes still standing then with one attack he killed my force shield commander with a hover ship

Is that even possible? Force shield = 7 defence, Hovership = 2 attack. That can't happen.

question: how come you can get a probe no problem every time but for most of the more advanced stuff (like say a mutant mount) even if you have the required settings etc. it still has a chance of not working (IE beam down prob is still a no)

A real story unlike the vast majority of these things I got my first drone kill (on someone other than me) for the first time right after complaining about the other guys lucky shot mining droid on my flying slime and all this turns after he failed to kill anything significant with his holograms :P

I remember back when its users were united and motivated. I stand here awestruck. All the time, effort, and money put into this effort wasted. Completely wasted. It has gone to nothing and it seems as if it will continue on a downward track. Matlu, what happened to you? How could you so easily give up? :'(

Hi there :) I haven't lost all my faith yet, I still have little bit left :) Not too much though.
I still have plans, and I'm still very busy with duelboard. The "rook" game (which is de facto whole duelboard right now) is relatively successful, but it's not enough. I want to have more games back, have the website looking more professional, and ultimately I want to integrate it with facebook. It's all in progress.
Ehm, I actually also started re-re-creating cyberbattles in flash instead of java (to work together with "rook", and other games that will came). Actually I don't really hope that it will ever significantly successful, well I just like the game.
As always, what I need the most, is a good graphician.

On the offchance, would you be willing to accept any third party games from amazing people? Just in case I ever want to make a totally awesome game :) I have a few ideas for single player puzzle games. Just don't have the expertise as of yet.

About the future... Everyone says this new 'DragonWars' game has potential. That's Lances CW clone that he finally managed to get off the ground. It's in beta atm as far as I know.
I just hope you share my views on it. It just deviates too far from the original to be called a clone, and my heart will always be with CyberWars :-[

I didn't know you are into programming :p If you created a totally awesome game I would put it on duelboard, no problem. I just recently prefer flash to java. And why singleplayer? Why not something multiplayer? :p
The games I would like to create are in two categories, in a "dream" category, and a "realistic". Makes no sense to talk about "dream" category. The realistic games are Cyberbattles in flash, ordinary card, board, and perhaps casino games that could interest folks who currently play "Rook/Raven".
btw it will be possible to use any animation for monsters in flash CB, (not just 3 cells animation), but I will use these at the beginning. If anybody wanted to create some more elaborate animations you are welcome.
I'm on a Computer Science degree at University at the moment. There's a lot of emphasis on Java.

What's so special about Flash over Java?
Games is 'dream' category, I always wanted to have online version of japanese game called "puyo puyo fever". I saw some clones (e.g. puzzle pirates have, something similar) but I didn't like them. Then clones of some board games like "Settlers of Catan" and similar. And then something runescape-like.
Java is superior to Flash, what I meant was that existing java CyberBattles only supports this fixed format with 4 animation frames per "action" in one big image files. It would take some work to make it support something else, and I'm not going to do that work :) And since I'm re-working it in flash from scratch, it possibilities are still open. Flash also has nice tools, where artist can create animations any way he likes, and programmer can just import them.
I've never heard of those! Sounds interesting though. And I know you always had your heart set on the Duelboard/Runescape project. I remember the old MUD :) Showed good progress.
Cyberbattles only supports 4 frames? What about those commander animations I made and you implemented? Some of those were at least 10 frames.
I look forward to seeing the game in flash anyway :) If it was your main project, how long would it take for you to port the game to Flash?
The commander animations were what I would call "ugly hacks" and "workarounds". They still had to be in one image file, which had to be 4*32 pixels wide, and I wrote special code to play these animations, where I also had hardcode in the program the index of starting end ending frame of each animation. If you for example wanted to add one frame to some animation you would have to "shift" all existing frames to get the space.
Btw those animations were definitely very nice :p
Again, it will be a process. If you don't have to care about anything else, just create game mechanics, I believe it is possible to get basic things working in like one week (like to select and move units), and then add features.
But right now I struggle with what I call "the framework" - which is all the code that is not specific for particular game, but does general things like network communication, game lobby, game options, ratings and such. The framework should be as universal as possible. For example the existing Rook/Raven game and Cyberbattles differ in certain things - e.g. in Rook you need exact number of players to start a game, then all hit "start" button and the game starts. In CB a game can start with any number of players, and I'm not yet sure whether there is going to be this "countdown thing" or something else. And some other games may need completely different requirements, like players could join or left during a game or whatever else, or you may need to be able to "challenge" the players. So I'm trying to make it universal.
Well, my will to re-create CB was seriously shaken when I found out that current java version is frequently visited by semi-retarded kids who yell "noob" at anyone they meet, and apparently suffer from severe frustration.

Don't lose heart Matlu! Unfortunately these are by-products of the internet. Though I had no idea anyone at all still played CB.
Cyber Battles in Java sounds very interesting. I understand that most of the time the framework would be the most difficult thing to port, since the game rules and mechanics would be staying fundamentally the same, I can imagine code like this would not differ <b>too</b> greatly between languages.
I'm already getting frustrated with Java, finding that the main API I need to use is depreciated and no longer supported or maintained by Sun :(
