Rook could really rock

A couple of our regular rook players have checked out the rook site.  We like the layout, it just needs a little work to be an awesome site.  There are about 50 regular players.  Is that enough to encourage you to work on the site?    A little work and it would be awesome!!!!!

There is already "almost finished" version of Rook online, just nobody knows about it. It needs to polish up a bit, but it should be playable. You can try it here:

If there are really so many people interested, I can create a dedicated section on the forum, juts for Rook players to report bugs and request features

1. open http://www.duelboard.com/rook/
2. you will see one single text link with label "play" - click it
3. new window should open, where you can create an account, or just sign in as a guest

btw - there is known issue with Macintosh computers - the game doesn't work well on them. But it should work ok on ordinary pc

Hey people...Im one of the regulars that plays rook on gameland.com...The rook game you've created is a very good start but it needs some improvements. Graphics for one...When I tried playing it...I noticed that you dont know which seat you are in. So maybe our names could be above or below our cards....I couldnt type in the chat most of the time and I believe hardluckwoman had the same problem...it would still allow us to play just not talk. Umm I love the way you can see the lobby while your playing your game...and that if someone quits or "stands up" then someone else can take their place. Thats a very handy feature for tournaments and such. We use to host as many as 10 tournaments a day. If you get this game fixed up It would be awesome to host there. Another thing that confused me is...it makes you click "start game" after each hand. I dont see the need in that. Oh yea...When you sit down...like if you sit in the north seat your cards are at the top of the screen. Is there anyway you could make it so that the cards are right in front of you like your at the bottom of the table no matter where you sit. Cuz its a little difficult to see your cards when they are sideways on the screen. I hope my sugguestions help you a little. I cant wait till its done

I know about it, it needs some testing and improvements. If there is some larger base of people who would play it, I'm willing to do changes. Is there something like forum or mailing list for people interested in rook?

If you switch window and then return back to rook window, it likely loses keyboard focus. You have to click with mouse anywhere to that window, in order to gain keyboard focus.

ok...It wont let me use !@#$%?><{} those in the chat lol and umm i figured out if it wont let you type anymore...you hit enter first...and then its fixed...weird but it works. The nest is confusing and ya dont know who took the bid...or what they bidded...umm the chat box needs to be fixed cuz if ya type alot then you cant see half of it even when you maximize the screen. Im sure ppl will post some more stuff so i'll let them name a few. btw...ty for the rook forum...we got our own little spot

Very good start.  I just tried it out and from the one game I played it looks like all the implovements/suggestions I had in mind have already been listed.  I am going to post a message about this on another site which used to host Rook.  There are quite a few players that check out thier forums regularly so that might get you some more interest.  I realize I am not allowed to advertise on thier site but the most they can do is ban me. LOL

sorry to say to everyone especially to all the people who love rook. But I come to the conclusion that I now hate rook, and if matlu never finishes it, I wont miss it.

I agree...waaayy more people will come play than 50!  We have more than that who come to the real time Tournament we have once a year. And those are just the diehards that can take off work and travel to another state.
    WE are here and very excited at the prospect of having a GOOD site to play!

Why do you hate it SirGut? You have more fun when theres people you know playing with ya...Its not just the game thats fun its meeting new people and joking around...I think thats what i miss the most. I cant wait to get it up and running full force
