The forums are a bit dead now, so I made this!

First activity! We each post an infamous 'Light Bulb' joke. There are tons of them on the Internet!

How many punks does it take to change a lightbulb?

I don't know, HOW MANY punks does it take to change a light bulb?

20, one to change the bulb, and 19 to call him a 'sell-out' for doing so!!!

There's one reason why metal is better than rock: Metal doesn't get boring.

If I listen to a rock song so many times, it gets boring and I delete it. This never happens with metal songs.

If you like more toned down rock look up "the sound and the fury" they are some local boys here in Kansas City we did a gig with at the Beaumont Club in Westport. They just signed under Motle Crue's label and they should be big in 06'. OH by the way, Ults's mentioning of the band Stepa..thats my group. Not so much metal, completely anyways. Its a combination of alot of different styles of rock..the most common song youll find on any d/l site is Aquarium.

I've heard of most of those bands listed. However, most of today's modern metal is just a shitload of screaming with melodies in the chorus...which I don't enjoy listening to. They all ripped off Killswitch Engage...which is another band that should be on my list.

I don't know why I like Trivium/Bullet for my Valentine (as they scream too), but I generally hate screaming bands.

I don't like In Flames....some of COF's songs are good. I've heard one song by Shadows Fall (it sucks), and that's about it.

I dont really think Killswitch was the pioneer of that music style considering they never really hit the mainstream until "End of Heartache" came into play and MAYBE "Rose of Sharyn" depending on how close you follow metal.

I agree, Trivium is definitly bad ass..i've followed em for quite some time.

If it's the more toned down rock your into, check out "The Sound and The Fury" like i said..prolly Millionaire Losers or Bullet Factory..they are definitly worth a listen.

Their old singer sucked, Howard Jones is the best!!

If you want to hear the best guitar solo ever, check out Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames.
The video glorifies that solo a billion times, but it still owns.

Goth Rock is HIM, Placebo and Evanescence...well it's mainstream goth rock...don't know what the "real" goth scene is like.

This is the same startle i received when i went to a sevendust concert 5 years back or so. I had no knowledge of the band besides their music and some black guy comes on stage, im thinking technician or something and he starts singing. Nothing against black fellaz at all, its just far and few between to see em in the metal genre.

What shocked me even more is that Howard Jones looks just like Morpheus! :D

There are a few "black singer" bands in metal. For example:

Sepultura (haven't heard)...God Forbid (Killswitch wannabes who mega suck) and Skindred (Proof that Caribbean music and heavy metal should not be mixed).

There's also another band...but I forgot their name...it begins with a 'C'  :P

Incase you're wondering what he means, let me explain.

Yesterday, we were talking on AIM and he told me its going to be Gut and Digi vs Me and Abc first round of sunday's tournament. I asked him how that came about and he literally said:

"thats how it is"

I ask wtf he meant by that and I asked what the system of picking the teams were and he would tell me. I told him he can't decide like that who plays who and we had a little arguement over it. Then he came up with some farfetched plan of drawing names out of a hat infront of everyone on a webcam. Idiotic idea, no one wants to see gut's ugly ass anyways.

So, gut, would you like to tell everyone what the system for picking opponents is?

I start everyone off with a topic, and we list things until it isn't possible to think of any more.

Rules
-The next film must start with the last letter of the previous film.
-Films cannot be repeated (regardless of if they were released multiple times)
-If a film starts or ends with a number, then write the number out as a word.
-No films in languages other than English

I think that covers everything.

Can I propose a better game? Its quite like this one except it goes like this:

Player1: Ab

Player2: basic

Player3: card

Notice how the first letter is always the next letter in the alphabet and the last letter of your word would be the next letter of the alphabet.

basic

Then you take the c from the previous word and make a word ending with the next letter of the alphabet

card


I just thought this game might be more challenging as it requires quite a bit of thinking which also makes it more fun. But if you don't want to, thats fine also.

If you look under "who's online" and you ever see "unknown action" you might be wondering what it means.

I noticed today matlu was reading Ult's  "I quit" topic and then I refreshed to see "unknown action"

When I went back to look for the thread it was gone.

So unknown action must be the deleting of a thread.

The alkali metals react quickest followed by the alkaline earth metals, found in the leftmost two groups of the periodic table. The transition metals take much longer to oxidise (such as iron, copper, zinc, nickel). Others, like palladium, platinum and gold, do not react with the atmosphere at all. Some metals form a barrier layer of oxide on their surface which cannot be penetrated by further oxygen molecules and thus retain their shiny appearance and good conductivity for many decades (like aluminium, some steels, and titanium). An alloy is a mixture with metallic properties that contains at least one metal element. Examples of alloys are steel (iron and carbon), brass (copper and zinc), bronze (copper and tin), and duralumin (aluminium and copper). Alloys specially designed for highly demanding applications, such as jet engines, may contain more than ten elements. Traditionally, metals have certain characteristic physical properties: they are usually shiny (they have "lustre"), have a high density, are ductile and malleable, usually have a high melting point, are usually hard, and conduct electricity and heat well. However this is mainly because the low density, soft, low melting point metals happen to be reactive, and we rarely encounter them in their elemental, metallic form. In the specialised usage of astronomy and astrophysics, the term "metal" is often used to refer to any element other than hydrogen or helium, and includes substances as chemically non-metallic as neon, fluorine, and oxygen. Because the temperatures of stellar bodies have practically no solid or liquid matter, and little normal chemistry cannot exist at temperatures that break down almost all chemical bonds, the term "metal" refers to materials that result from the triple-helium process which are much scarcer than hydrogen and helium in stars in the Main Sequence. In chemistry, the term base metal is used informally to refer to a metal that oxidizes or corrode relatively easily, and react variably with dilute hydrochloric acid (HCl) to form hydrogen. Milling is generally done on a milling machine, which is a power-driven machine used for the complex shaping of metal (or possibly other materials) parts, by removing unneeded material to form the final shape. Its basic form is that of a milling cutter that rotates about the spindle axis (like a drill), and a worktable that can move in multiple directions (usually three dimensions [x,y,z axis] relative to the workpiece, whereas a drill can only move in one dimension [z axis] while cutting). The motion across the surface of the workpiece is usually accomplished by moving the table on which the workpiece is mounted, in the x and y directions. Milling machines may be operated manually or under computer numerical control (CNC), and can perform a vast number of complex operations, such as slot cutting, planing, drilling and threading, rebating, routing, etc. Welding is a fabrication process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by causing coalescence. This is often done by melting the workpieces and adding a filler material to form a pool of molten material that cools to become a strong joint, but sometimes pressure is used in conjunction with heat, or by itself, to produce the weld. This is in contrast with soldering and brazing, which involve melting a lower-melting-point material between the workpieces to form a bond between them. Many different energy sources can be used for welding, including a gas flame, an electric arc, a laser, an electron beam, friction, and ultrasound. While often an industrial process, welding can be done in many different environments, including open air, underwater and in space. Regardless of location, however, welding remains dangerous, and precautions must be taken to avoid burns, electric shock, poisonous fumes, and overexposure to ultraviolet light. Screening is the damping of electric fields caused by the presence of mobile charge carriers. It is an important part of the behavior of charge-carrying fluids, such as ionized gases (classical plasmas) and conduction electrons in metals. In astrophysics, electric field screening is important because it makes electric fields largely irrelevant. However, because the fluids involved have charged particles, they can generate and are affected by magnetism which is a very relevant and complex area of astrophysics. In a fluid composed of electrically charged constituent particles, each pair of particles interact through the Coulomb force. This interaction complicates the theoretical treatment of the fluid. For example, a naive quantum mechanical calculation of the ground-state energy density yields infinity, which is unreasonable. The difficulty lies in the fact that even though the Coulomb force diminishes with distance as 1/r², the average number of particles at each distance r is proportional to r², assuming the fluid is fairly isotropic. As a result, a charge fluctuation at any one point has non-negligible effects at large distances. In reality, these long-range effects are suppressed by the flow of the fluid particles in response to electric fields. This flow reduces the effective interaction between particles to a short-range "screened" Coulomb interaction. For example, consider a fluid composed of electrons. Each electron possesses an electric field which repels other electrons. As a result, it is surrounded by a region in which the density of electrons is lower than usual. This region can be treated as a positively-charged "screening hole". Viewed from a large distance, this screening hole has the effect of an overlaid positive charge which cancels the electric field produced by the electron. Only at short distances, inside the hole region, can the electron's field be detected. Metallic bonding is the bonding within metals. It involves the delocalized sharing of free electrons among a lattice of metal atoms. Thus, metallic bonds may be compared to molten salts. Metal atoms typically contain a high amount of electrons in their valence shell compared to their period or energy level. These become delocalised and form a Sea of Electrons surrounding a giant lattice of positive ions.
